ABOUT CASA MARTINO
About the house
Surrounded by hills and woods, Casa Martino is situated in Villa, a small fraction of the town Stia-Pratovecchio, which is located along the pilgrimage route of Saint Francis in a less known part of Tuscany, il Casentino. The nature around you is overwhelming and at night wild boars and deer can sometimes be heard roaming right outside the window of your bedroom.
Casa Martino has recently been renovated and is divided in two cosy apartments with a garden and barbecue facilities. The property offers free private parking and free WiFi. You can find the nearest shops for your first-day essentials in Consuma, while bigger supermarkets and shopping malls are located in Pratovecchio, Bibbiena or Pontassieve. The nearest airport is Florence Airport at 59 km from the accommodation, while the distance to Pisa Airport is 120 km.
Following a few days of leisure, you can visit neighboring towns to learn about the Casentino's cultural treasures and explore historic sites. Do you want more nature? If so, you can pick from a variety of trails and start your day with a leisure trip through the woods and meander along beautiful paths where you might come across wildlife, hidden waterfalls, or picturesque scenic views.

About us
Marco:
Italians have a special attraction for houses and generally
don’t like to rent… and I am a typical Italian!
I am also a lawyer and therefore I have acquired some skills
in the real estate sector. I discovered public auctions and
that’s why some years ago I thought that buying a house
could have been a good investment which could cope with
my dream of having a second house for my family in the countryside.
That’s why we bought Casa Martino in 2015. The old farmhouse dating back to 1847 had remained abandoned for over ten years. I didn’t know the Casentino area but I progressively fell in love with its wilderness, simplicity and sense of history.
We now love the feeling of being immerged in a wood, peacefulness and silence other than the sound of the leaves and wind and of our animal friends. With a lot of effort we gave a new life to the house without touching its ancient soul and we have many other plans to make it nicer and nicer. Sharing Casa Martino with our guests is sharing the love and care that we feel and dedicate to it.
A presto!

Yvonne:
Ten years ago, Marco came home with the news that he had his eye on a house he wanted to buy. It had been empty for years because there were some legal issues, and apparently, no one was willing to deal with the Italian bureaucracy to solve them. But Marco has no problem with that; solving legal problems is actually a hobby of his. So, he decided to make an offer. He was the only interested party, and that's how we became owners of an old farmhouse with a estate and a piece of forest.
It's quite a drive from Rome, which is a bit of a downside. You have to drive all through Tuscany before reaching this less-known part of the region. But the journey is definitely worth it. It's wonderful to leave the busy city behind and completely relax amidst the green hills, enjoying the delicious Tuscan dishes.

"We were looking for a quiet place to relax and Casa Martino met our needs. The house is beautiful and equipped with every comfort, the space is both inside and outside and Marco, the owner, was kind, attentive and helpful but above all quick to solve any problem."

"Everything was perfect! Marco is really a great host. Our vacation was a little rough and he was very understanding and kind. Always available and very clear on the explanations of the house. The cottage is magnificent, warm and welcoming atmosphere. The nature and silence that surrounds you are a true regeneration for the soul. We also met some of our neighbors, including a couple selling their own honey, fruit and vegetables which were really kind and helpful! There are very few people in the village, really hospitable and willing to help us in every situation. We will definitely be back!"

"Casa Martino is an excellent place for those who want to run away from the city. Our host Marco was very helpful. The area is breathtaking. We regret we had to leave..."

"Located at around 35 km from Florence, the villa, built in 1847 in typical and delicious Tuscan style, is surrounded by greenery and tranquility. Marco and Ivonne are very kind and helpful, they welcomed us with a smile and with kindness. Our children spent an afternoon in their company, with great enthusiasm. Marco has renovated the property with care, attention and taste. There are still small details to fix, especially with the outsides, I will be happy to return to enjoy the final result. Recommended for anyone, especially those who like the quiet Tuscan countryside, but not too far from Florence. It takes almost an hour to reach it from the highway, but it is definitely worth it!"
