The Parish Church of San Pietro in Romena, nestled in the lush surroundings of the Casentino region, stands as a testament to history, spirituality, and mystery. Built in 1152 by parish priest Alberico during a time of famine, it is a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture in Casentino. The church, declared a national monument, was constructed on top of earlier structures, including a Christian building over a pagan temple and an early medieval church.

Despite damages over the centuries, including the collapse of the original facade in 1678 and subsequent earthquakes, the church's essence remains intact, especially its apse adorned with intricate architectural elements. Inside, visitors are immersed in an austere yet mystical atmosphere, where each capital and column tells a story through intricate carvings. The church once housed precious artworks, now displayed in the Propositura del Ss. Nome di Gesù a Pratovecchio for security reasons.

Today, it serves as the home of the Fraternity of Romena, a community founded in 1991 with a commitment to welcoming all and cultivating beauty in challenging times. Surrounding the church, the Garden of Beauty provides a serene space for reflection and relaxation, while "Lo Sguardo" offers a unique octagonal area overlooking the valley, fostering connections with oneself, others, and nature within a rich historical and landscape setting.

The Fraternity of Romena is a spiritual place for laic people, religious, families and anyone who wants to get back in touch with oneself, others and nature, inserted in a unique historical and landscape context.
